Insanely Powerful Gaming Laptops

Gaming laptops are a bit of a misnomer. Many companies tout that their gaming laptops are “true” but don’t deliver the performance as advertised. This leads consumers to become confused.
What constitutes a true gaming laptop? The bottom line is performance and should always be the first thing consumers look for when purchasing a gaming laptop.

If you take a look at reviews of gaming laptops, you’ll see that a lot of them are equipped with the NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M. This is a respectable graphics card, but it doesn’t provide the push that consumers are looking for.

If you want some serious gaming prowess, then look for laptops that have the “GTX” tag instead of just “GT.” This means that those laptops use NVIDIA’s most extreme graphics cards for laptops. For those who want that, here are a couple of laptops.

Alienware M17X

Alienware M17X

Alienware is always the first name to come up when it comes to portable gaming systems. As expected, whenever a hardware manufacturer releases new products, computer builders like Alienware introduce updates to their products too.

The M17x, their flagship model is now in its fourth version or “r4” as they’d like to call it. This laptop, in terms of design, is largely unchanged except for the new parts.

It still retains the large and bright 17 inch screen, wonderfully colorful backlit keyboard and aggressive styling that has made Alienware famous.

So what makes this laptop insane? Well, it has the most powerful NVIDIA graphics card, the GTX 680M. NVIDIA is proud of the 680M, describing it as their “highest performing, most efficient mobile GPU ever.”

In terms of performance, this laptop just blows away the competition. The tag team of the 680M with an Intel Core i7 processor makes this laptop a serious powerhouse.

MSI GT70

MSI GT70

For those who want a more affordable laptop than the insanely priced Alienware, then MSI is a good company. They’re popular for providing hardware and complete computers for everyone.

The GT70 0NE-276US is their most expensive laptop, but is considerably less than the M17x. This laptop also contains the third generation Intel Core i7 processor, giving it insane performance.

You also get a 17.6 0 inch screen with 1080p HD resolution. Again, like the Alienware M17x r4, this laptop also has the most powerful NVIDIA GPU available for laptops, the GTX 680M. This makes the laptop performance on par with Alienware, at a lower price.

To help things along, you get two SSD drives (both 1228 GB each) and a 750 GB hard drive for all of your games. You also get 16 GB of RAM, Bluetooth and USB 3.0 ports for fast data transfer.

Conclusion

These two laptops represent the pinnacle of portable gaming. One is insanely expensive, and the other one is less insanely expensive.

It’s all up to you on what to choose. If you have the budget, then consider getting the Alienware. For those looking to save cash though, the MSI is a good choice. You’ll just have to be more careful when carrying it around.
